One of the best things about Provide is that it opens up opportunities for us to work with artists and designers whose work we love. Our latest collaboration with Tom Abbiss Smith is one we are particularly proud of. Since graduating from Norwich University of the Arts in 2016, Tom's work has gained global recognition, and his client list already includes brands such as Bandcamp, Pinterest and Slowdown Studio.
We're honoured to be the latest addition to an impressive list of collaborators, and we're excited to present a capsule collection featuring two original artworks created by Tom. Utilising photographs of buildings, shapes and textures in Birmingham city centre, the resulting compositions provide a fresh view of the city from 170 miles away.
Tom is known for his use of vibrant colours, but for this project we tasked him with a greyscale palette in order to focus attention on both his work processes and the variety of textures around Birmingham. Notable landmarks that feature include New Street Signal Box and Alpha Tower - but we'll leave the other locations for you to figure out! You might also notice some custom typography that Tom has created for the collaboration to complement his own logo...
The collection consists of a black short sleeved T-shirt, a white long sleeved T-shirt, a slip mat that we talked about making after discovering a shared love of music, 2 art prints and a 20 page edition of Provide Zine, designed with Tom's friend and collaborator 2Stripe.
