Today marks the start of an exciting new chapter for Provide, as we share news not only of a new permanent location, but also a major rebrand.
After leaving the Custard Factory in Digbeth and moving on to a pop up shop at the Great Western Arcade last year, we had to ask some serious questions about the future of Provide. Experience at two very different retail destinations confirmed a gut feeling that we needed to change the way we operate - no more big spending on unreasonable rent; that money would be better spent on creating and promoting things we love.
Which leads us nicely to our new home. 212 Space is a studio that houses a number of independent businesses, and we're really excited to be joining their community. Provide, at 212 Space is open to the public every Friday from 10:00-17:00. We have everything here that you've come to expect from us, and more. Our magazine collection has grown again, and we're constantly coming across new things that we want to share with you. It's by far the best version of Provide yet.
Alongside the move to a new physical environment, we have been working away behind the scenes since January with Two of Us to create a new visual environment for the brand, in keeping with our core values and enabling us to grow and evolve.
Central to this is the new logotype which is intended to sit underneath a main image, as a platform for the content it carries - emphasising Provide's supportive role as a creator and promoter of good design and independent culture. We'll post a detailed account of the working processes behind the design soon, but for now, take a look at this snapshot of the development process:
If you visit us at 212 Space, you'd do well to explore the rest of the Jubilee Centre - it has some pretty amazing staircases round the back. We like them so much we put them on a T-shirt:
Check back here over the coming weeks, as we'll be posting more about all these changes. You'll get to know more about 212 Space, and we'll explore the process behind our brand development work, and of course there will be plenty of new products going online too.
